A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye faced a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk in an extremely close quarter-mile drag race at Toronto Motorsports Park.

The Redeye completed the quarter mile in 8.89 seconds at 152.52 MPH, while the Trackhawk ran 9.0 seconds at a faster 154 MPH.

The Jeep Trackhawk recorded the higher trap speed, but the Hellcat Redeye reached the finish line first with the quicker elapsed time.

This result demonstrates the difference between elapsed time and trap speed. Trap speed shows how fast a vehicle is travelling near the finish line, while elapsed time measures how quickly it completes the entire quarter mile.

The Trackhawk was travelling faster at the end of the track, but the Redeye put together the quicker overall pass.

THREE-CAMERA DRAG-RACING COVERAGE

The race was captured from three different camera angles:

• Starting-line rooftop camera

• On-car POV camera

• Insta360 X5 camera at the end of the track

The rooftop angle shows the complete matchup from staging through the launch. The POV camera provides an on-car perspective, while the end-of-track camera captures both vehicles approaching the finish line at more than 150 MPH.

8-SECOND HELLCAT REDEYE

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is already one of the quickest factory-produced Mopar platforms, but this car has been modified well beyond its original performance level.

Running 8.89 seconds places the Challenger firmly into the 8-second quarter-mile range while still retaining the recognizable appearance of a modern Dodge muscle car.

9-SECOND JEEP TRACKHAWK

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk combines supercharged HEMI power with all-wheel-drive traction.

The Trackhawk’s 9.0-second pass at 154 MPH is especially impressive for a large SUV. Its all-wheel-drive system allows it to launch aggressively, while its 154-MPH trap speed shows the amount of power it continues to produce at the top end of the track.
