From Slant Six Street Car to Drag Car
Before becoming a championship-winning race car, this 1969 Dodge Dart was a Slant Six street car from South Carolina.
The Dart was eventually converted into a dedicated drag car with a tubbed rear end, racing suspension and a drivetrain built for consistent track performance. Despite its race-ready stance and large hood scoop, much of the car’s original late-1960s Dodge identity remains clearly recognizable.

• Custom-built 727 automatic transmission
• 4,200-rpm stall converter
• Dana rear end with 4.10 gears

The Dart has also earned two championships and an NHRA Wally, proving that this classic Mopar is more than a showpiece.

For clarity, the 6.42-second result shown in the video is an eighth-mile elapsed time. The Dart’s 9.16-second record was achieved over a full quarter-mile.
