This burgundy 1965 Plymouth Belvedere is an A990-style Nostalgia Super Stock drag car powered by a naturally aspirated 572ci HEMI producing more than 1,000 horsepower. It has run 8.98 seconds at nearly 150 MPH with no supercharger, turbocharger or nitrous.

Lightweight Body, All-Motor HEMI
The owner describes the Belvedere as a factory-lightweight car, with lightweight body components, thin Corning side glass, lighter front fenders and a thinner front bumper. The body carries the Mr. 5 & 50 and Pleasant Motors lettering associated with Mopar racer Jack Werst.
The HEMI has survived thousands of drag-strip passes with many of the same major components. The owner runs a Ford nine-inch because it makes gear changes easier, although a Dana 60 would be the more traditional Mopar choice.
Nostalgia Super Stock Racing
The car's comfortable range is about 9.00 to 9.02 seconds in the quarter-mile, and it can run 8.98 when pushed.
